Binjiang district, Hangzhou's hi-tech zone recently held a promotional meeting in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, to seek cooperation with the city in industrial development, project delivery and talent attraction.

More than 100 companies and institutions attended the meeting, including the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Tencent, and Goldport Capital asset management company.

Three projects were signed between Binjiang and Shenzhen Stock Exchange, Huawei Technologies, and Beihang University, respectively, covering areas such as 5G application and education.

Binjiang and Shenzhen, both famous for flourishing private economies, enjoy a close partnership. The Shenzhen-based Huawei Technologies has set up a research institute in Binjiang and made it its global training center. Currently, 25 Binjiang-based companies are listed in the Shenzhen Stock Exchange.

"Hangzhou is one of the very few cities in China known for a long history, good environment and abundant innovation resources," said Wang Min, Party chief of Binjiang.

Wang said that Binjiang has been devoted to improving housing, education and transport to attract skilled workers.

"We prepared 400 houses which skilled workers can rent at a reasonable price. The number of schools in our district has doubled over the past five years, and we will build 37 more in the three years to come. We will strive to make our district an innovation and entrepreneurship hub where you will feel 'closest to your dreams and success'," said Wang.
