Hangzhou will strengthen efforts to develop e-commerce, according to a set of guidelines recently released by the local government.

The guidelines state that the local government will provide more support for e-commerce in six key areas, including training, construction of industrial parks, and logistics improvement.

According to the guidelines, the local government will provide subsidies of up to 1 million yuan ($142,068) to business entities that can help improve e-commerce.

The guidelines stipulate that the local government will encourage business entities to conduct cross-border e-commerce trade, and traditional foreign trade and manufacturing companies to become more digital.

Hangzhou will also offer up to 500,000 yuan in subsidies to cross-border e-commerce platforms and third-party service enterprises that bolster the development of e-commerce projects.

In order to facilitate brand marketing of cross-border e-commerce companies, Hangzhou will offer cash awards to companies that successfully register their brands in countries they export to.

The guidelines also emphasize the training of skilled e-commerce workers. The Hangzhou government will offer up to 1 million yuan to universities that open schools for e-commerce with an enrollment of no less than 1,000 students.

Other articles are also included calling for more local support for industrial parks, logistics, trade assurance capital pool, and many other items.
