The Xianghu scenic area in Hangzhou has achieved full 5G service coverage, according to a recent announcement by the area's management committee.

Thirty-four 5G base stations have been erected in the resort area, officials said.

Tourists will no longer need to worry about slow data, as 5G download speeds are around 100 times faster than 4G. 

Early in April, the Xianghu scenic area management committee signed a cooperation deal with the Xiaoshan branch of China Mobile, and the two parties agreed to work together in 5G application, intelligent management, intelligent services, and intelligent marketing.

Advanced technology has now become a highlight of the tourist area, as the Xianghu International Half Marathon, which was held in the area in October, used 5G and other advanced technologies in a variety of ways.

Moving forward, the scenic area plans to adopt more new technologies, such as VR, in order to offer a more immersive experience for tourists.
