The 2019 Overseas Chinese Elites Summit on Innovation and Entrepreneurship and International Conference of Innovative Medicines took place in Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, on Oct 31. 

The summit, which has the catchphrase "gather innovative talents, boost bio-economic development", served as a match-making conference for 102 Chinese and foreign bioengineering projects. 

The summit also included forums and lectures for scholars and investors to discuss bioengineering and pharmaceutical studies.

At the opening ceremony, the Association for Material Biology and Intelligent Diagnosis officially affiliated itself with the Biophysical Society of China.

The opening ceremony also saw Hangzhou Biopharma Town, an industrial park founded a year ago to focus on developing bioengineering and pharmaceutical technologies, grant letters of appointment to five esteemed academics.

The summit was sponsored by the All-China Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the All-Zhejiang Federation of Returned Overseas Chinese, the Hangzhou government and Zhejiang University, and was organized by the Returned Overseas Chinese Federation of Hangzhou, the Management Committee of the Hangzhou Qiantang New Area, the National Center for Nanoscience and Technology, and the College of Pharmaceutical Sciences at Zhejiang University.
