Hangzhou, East China's Zhejiang province had a total of 6,229 invention patents authorized in the first half of 2019. The city's portfolio of valid invention patents has now risen to 55,390, ranking first among the nation's provincial capitals, according to statistics released by the local government.
In recent years, Hangzhou has been making efforts to promote the development of intellectual property (IP) by modifying current policies, improving service quality, and launching service platforms.
By the end of 2018, Hangzhou Robam Appliances, a kitchen appliance maker based in Zhejiang province, had registered 240 trademarks and 11 software copyrights, and its main trademark had been used in more than 40 countries and regions.
For years, Zhejiang based Supcon Group, the nation's leading producer of automated control systems, has attached great importance to improving innovation.
Hangzhou released a number of policies with the aim of providing a complete system for innovative enterprises and optimizing the innovation and business environment. The city has set up a comprehensive system integrating administration, judicature, lawsuits and conciliation, making the IP dispute settlement mechanism more effective.
At the same time, local governments have improved services and pushed forward reforms to simplify IP procedures. Advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data, and cloud computing will be used to develop a new knowledge innovation development framework in Hangzhou, which will serve the Yangtze River Delta region and link Hangzhou with the rest of the world.
