China Intellectual Property Annual Conference to be held in Hangzhou

The 10th China Intellectual Property Annual Conference (CIPAC), an important event in China's IP industry, will be held in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province from Sept 2-3, local media reported.
This year's event, co-organized by the National Intellectual Property Administration, Zhejiang government and the Intellectual Property Publishing House Co Ltd, will be held outside of Beijing for the first time.
Over 10,000 representatives and influential figures from international organizations, government departments, industrial institutions and world renowned enterprises from 40 countries are expected to attend.
This year's event will include a number of new topics, and a particular focus will be paid to trademarks and geographical indications (a marker on products specifying their geographical origin).
Other topics, such as overseas IP rights protection, artificial intelligence and IP rights, IP rights operations, regional economic integration, IP legal system, IP public services and administrative adjudication will also be covered in the sub-forums and seminars.
An over-8,000-square-meter exhibition on geographical indications in China will be launched during the two-day event.
China has ranked first worldwide in terms of trademark filings for 16 consecutive years. Last year, a total of 7.37 million trademark applications were filed.
