Hangzhou ranks 2nd among China's top AI computing power cities

Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, ranked 2nd among Chinese cities in terms of artificial intelligence (AI) computing power, closely following Beijing, according to a report released at the 2019 AI Computing Conference on Aug 28.
Compiled by International Data Corporation and information technology company Inspur Group, the report is an important AI development indicator in China.
As the home of China's e-commerce giant Alibaba Group and a plethora of universities and research institutions, Hangzhou occupies an important place at the developmental forefront of e-commerce, cloud computing, big data, AI and internet of things.
While tapping into the potential of digital resources, Hangzhou has stepped up efforts to improve technological innovation and establish a number of AI industrial clusters.
Surveys show that Hangzhou ranks 12th in the world in terms of the number of AI enterprises, and leads the world in terms of AI applications, particularly when it comes to mobile payment and smart logistics.
The city aims to develop into a new-generation national AI innovation development pilot zone.
In addition to Hangzhou, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou and Xi'an also made the top 10.
