A new logo for Hangzhou's green way was released on Aug 19.
The logo, designed by Xiao Wenjun, takes the form of a lotus leaf, with the veins representing Hangzhou's weaving green way network.
"The lotus is frequently mentioned when I look up Hangzhou," said Xiao.
In addition to the lotus, other elements are also featured in the logo, including abstract images of birds and fish. "The logo emphasizes the preservation of nature, which is the original intention of the green way," said Xiao.
As the symbol of Hangzhou's green way, the logo will be featured on the footpaths, signs, and guide boards in nearby areas.
A three-year (2019-2021) action plan to construct Hangzhou's green way was also released.
Official statistics reveal that by the end of July, Hangzhou will have completed 42 green way projects, stretching 225.6 kilometers in total. The city is expected to build 1,000 km of green ways within the next three years along the city's many lakes, mountains, rivers, wetlands, parks, and rural areas.
Launched in March, the logo solicitation campaign received 580 works from around the country.
