A cooperation agreement to construct the Hangzhou International Science and Innovation Center was inked between Zhejiang University and Xiaoshan district of Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on Aug 19.

As a major project to cement ties between Hangzhou and the university, the center, which is located in Xiaoshan district, will focus on cutting-edge technological research and development and the commercialization of technological achievements in the areas of materials science, information science and life science.

It aims to become a world-class technological innovation center which can support the development of the industries of the future.

The venture will comprise of an R&D center, an incubation center, and an industrial center.

The construction will proceed in three phases, with the first phase expected to start in December, and will be finished before the 2022 Hangzhou Asian Games.
