The 8th Hangzhou International Theatre Festival will be staged in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province from Sept 11 to 29, said organizers on Aug 8.

Organized by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hangzhou Municipal Committee and Hangzhou Culture Radio Television Group, the 19-day cultural event will stage 35 performances of 24 plays from home and abroad, including from Lithuania, Brazil, Belgium, and Denmark.

According to Meng Jinghui, a renowned Chinese theater director and art director of the Hangzhou International Theatre Festival, this year's festival will include five immersive plays which will bring actors and audiences into very close proximity of one another, allowing audiences to feel more involved.

"Drama is the most beautiful scenery in any city," said Meng.

Tickets for the 8th Hangzhou International Theatre Festival will be available from Aug 14, according to organizers.

Since it was initiated in 2012, the Hangzhou International Theatre Festival has staged 70 top plays from the United Kingdom, Australia, Italy, Switzerland and Japan.
