Over 10 craftsmen from Hangzhou, capital of East China's Zhejiang province, were awarded the title of national technical expert for their performance at the 45th World Skills Competition, local media reported on July 10.
A total of 560 skilled personnel from across the country received the honor from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of China.
The esteemed state-level honor for skilled personnel in China aims to recognize the important role of vocational skills competitions in cultivating talents.
Winners come from all walks of life including numerical control, architecture, hairdressing and beauty, baking, and medical health.
Xu Shunhe, a teacher from Hangzhou Xiaoshan Technician College who specializes in numerical control machinery, finished three parts by rearranging, programming, parts processing and assembly with few precision errors within the stipulated time.
Xu has had two invention patents and six utility model patents since joining the workforce.
Over the years, Hangzhou has doubled down on its efforts in vocational training and talent cultivation, said an official from the Hangzhou Municipal Human Resources and Social Security Bureau.
Official statistics revealed that as of the end of 2018, Hangzhou has had 473,000 highly skilled personnel and a group of national champions participate in the World Skills Competition.
