From Italian explorer Marco Polo to the Moroccan traveler and scholar Ibn Battuta, Hangzhou -- which has been hailed as "the finest and most splendid city in the world" -- seems to be a favored destination by worldwide travellers with its beautiful scenery and rich cultural heritages.

Jordan Taylor, an American travel vlogger who goes by the name "Travellight" on the social media, visited Hangzhou on July 5-7 to explore the city's three UNESCO World Heritage sites -- the West Lake, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the newly-listed Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City.

"The ancient civilization is attractive to me," she said.

"I have been to many world heritage cities in China, Egypt, India, Mexico and Greece, and I think Hangzhou is the most vibrant one," added Taylor, the first online celebrity who visited the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City since it was added to the world heritage list on July 6.

She noted that the ancient city of Liangzhu is a key cultural site that bears testimony to the over 5,000-year-long Chinese civilization. It is a mysterious and great place, she said.

"Many of my subscribers who watched the videos can't wait to come to Hangzhou and experience Chinese culture," she said.

Over the years, Hangzhou has been exploring diversified channels to promote its  tourist offerings overseas and its cultural brand. With the addition of the Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City to the World Heritage list, the eastern city will step up efforts to showcase the three cultural heritages of Hangzhou to the world and raise the international profile of its tourism industry by relying on key opinion leaders and influencers on the social media platforms.
