Hangzhou, an emerging technology hub and home to e-commerce giant Alibaba in Zhejiang province, is striving to build itself into a major innovation and entrepreneurship center. During the recently-concluded 2019 National Mass Innovation and Entrepreneurship Week, three entrepreneurs shared their startup stories with us.

Located in Yuhang Biopharmaceutical High-Tech Park, HealSun Biopharm is a pharmaceutical company dedicated to providing research and development services for antibody and recombinant protein drugs.In 2015, Li Haoqiang started the company with partners. Within four years, the company has catapulted itself to the forefront of the industry, relying on its abundant capital and talent resources.

Last August, the new drug developed by the company was approved by the China Food and Drug Administration for clinical trials.

"It took only two years after starting the project to get clinical approval, which was unimaginable even for biopharmaceutical companies with their own research and development teams," said Li.

Aside from digital economy, emerging industries such as biopharma have always been the focus of Yuhang district, said a local official.

Covering an area of 20 square kilometers, Yuhang Biopharmaceutical High-Tech Park is the only provincial level biomedical high-tech park in the province and home to 220 bio economic enterprises.
