The Archaeological Ruins of Liangzhu City is scheduled to open to public in Hangzhou, capital of Zhejiang province, local media reported on June 2.

Covering an area of 14.34 square kilometers, the city is composed of three sections, including Liangzhu ancient city, Yaoshan ruins, and a water conservancy system site.

Liangzhu culture (3400-2250 BC) dates back to the Neolithic age and was discovered 80 years ago by Chinese archaeologists in the town of Liangzhu, Hangzhou.

The primitive culture played a vital role in shaping ancient Chinese civilization. More than 500 sites have been excavated to date, spanning East China's Zhejiang and Jiangsu provinces, and Shanghai.

The Liangzhu Archaeological site applied to become a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site in 2019.
