An international innovation center jointly developed by Hong Kong and Hangzhou High-Tech Zone (HHTZ) of Binjiang district was established in Hong Kong on April 17.

The center is designed to boost international technology transfer and talent exchange in the big health industry by leveraging the capital advantages of Dinova Medtech Group in Binjiang district.

"We hope that the international innovation center can help attract more international high-caliber talents and technology from Hong Kong, which can then be industrialized in Binjiang district," said Li Zhilong, mayor of Binjiang, adding that the center is expected to play a key role in boosting corporate exchange and cooperation between Hangzhou and Hong Kong.

As a key player in the development of Hangzhou's hi-tech industries and a platform for showcasing the city to the world, HHTZ is aligned with Hong Kong in terms of the development of emerging industries, high-end talent introduction and cultivation, innovative and entrepreneurial environment and international development, said Li.

Meanwhile, a chamber of commerce was also established which aims to serve as an information, economic and talent platform and provide services for Hangzhou merchants doing business in Hong Kong and Macao, and vice versa.

Over the years, Binjiang district has been committed to increasing its international profile. At present, it has 43 listed companies and 147 overseas research and development incubators.
